A storming second-half performance saw Marist sweep past the reigning Dublin schools champions at a rain-sodden Maynooth.

Trailing by four points at the interval, Marist held their hosts scoreless in the second half and two late goals from substitute Conor Gleeson capped a superb comeback for the Westmeath school.

Peader Murray's goal meant Maynooth held a 1-5 to 0-4 lead at the break, but Marist tore into their opponents from the restart and they reeled off four points in six minutes.

Niall Neary's free gave his side the lead for the first time in the 42nd minute, before Charlie McMickan gave them a two-point cushion.

Seven minutes from time Gleeson shot to the net and he added a second in injury-time to wrap up the recovery.
