Glancy points way to treble
Leitrum SFC Final
Glencar/Manor 0-7 St Mary's 0-5
Glencar/Manorhamilton captured their third Leitrim football title in succession when they defeated St Mary's of Carrick-on-Shannon in a low-scoring but competitive final in Carrick-on-Shannon.
A strong second-half burst proved decisive for the victors after St Mary's made much of the early running and led by 0-4 to 0-3 at the end of a tight first half.
David Tiernan opened Mary's account with a point after a minute which was cancelled out by James Glancy five minutes later. All the first-half scores came in the opening quarter, with St Mary's edging ahead with a Gene Bohan free.
James McGrail extended their lead from play two minutes into the resumption but it was to be their last score as the champions upped their game.
Glencar were led by county star James Glancy who restored parity with two excellent points from play before being substituted with an ankle injury.
In an exciting finale, Aaron Hickey put Glencar/Manor in front eight minutes from time and despite Mary's best efforts, they failed to breach a solid Glencar/Manor defence marshalled by man of the match Paddy Mulligan.
A draw looked likely as Mary's attacked late on but a Brian McDonald point sealed a famous win.
