Sunday Independent columnist and Meath legend Colm O'Rourke was convinced that Kieran Donaghy should have been awarded a penalty after being hauled to the ground in the area.

On the stroke of 70 minutes, a high ball was delivered into the area and Donaghy tangled with Dublin full-back Rory O'Carroll.

Kerry were trailing by four points at the time and O'Rourke believed David Coldrick was wrong in his failure to award a penalty.

"Donaghy took the battle to Dublin, which nobody else was doing, and for me it was a stonewall penalty," he told The Sunday Game.

"Rory O'Carroll is all over him and maybe Donaghy performed some theatrics... that was when Kerry were four points up and it would have gave them a chance for a draw."

Killian Young's fluffed goal chance and the Alan Brogan point was a crucial four-point wing for Joe Brolly.

"That was the crucial moment, that restored a more balanced picture to the scoreboard. It would have been a travesty if Kerry had managed to come out of that," he said.
