Ger Gilroy: Sticking with Jason Ryan only way Lilies can get over debacles

Kildare are in a quandary. Do they double down on Jason Ryan and persist with their transition period, or do they blood-let and hope that new management uncovers new players and a style that suits?
Relegation from Division 2 has effectively sealed the Lilies' Championship fate for 2016 already. Nothing good comes out of Division 3, so they need a recalibration of targets.
It's grim fodder for the county given the McGeeney era where crazy expectations were almost matched on the field.
The easy decision is to move on and replace Ryan, but sometimes the hardest and best thing is to do nothing.
If the management team stay, they will have to have some long, difficult conversations and absorb lessons from record defeats at the hands of Kerry and Dublin.
Unless there is a thorough understanding reached about why something happened, it'll repeat. A new management team will attempt to erase this from the collective memory but isn't that cheating?
This happened, and making those involved responsible for the repercussions seems like the only meaningful way out.
Kildare, like the Macbeths, are so far 'stepped in blood' that we can't turn back now.
