Gems from Blue Book may come in handy for Dublin
Remember Dublin's famous Blue Book, the manual prepared for the squad in 2008 which was supposed to be the creed by which they would plot a path to glory? It was cringeworthy stuff really. It even included getting a commitment from players not to "show or admit the existence of the Blue Book to any other person except another Blue Book holder."
Naturally, that instruction was ignored and we still treasure our copy. In fairness to Pat Gilroy, he has dispensed with all that nonsense. Still, we decided to check the BB to see what philosophical gems it offered for September 2008 which, sadly for Dublin, didn't apply as they lost the quarter-final to Tyrone. Still, maybe they'll help for Sunday.
"So long as there is a breath in me, that long I will persist. For now I know one of the greatest principles of success; if I persist long enough I will win."
-- Og Mandino.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."
-- Margaret Mead.
"There are some times in your life that you have to call upon the best of all which God gave you -- and the best of what he didn't."
-- Gloria Naylor.
