A full-forward line comprised entirely of Kerrymen scored 4-11 for UCC yesterday as the students walloped Tipperary's Moyle Rovers by 19 points in Clonmel.

Full-forward Gavin O'Grady notched 0-5 and Stephen O'Brien 2-1 but Paul Geaney was the star of the show, bagging 2-5 just 24 hours after scoring 1-2 for his club, Dingle, in the Kerry Division 1 senior league final.

This was a routine victory for UCC against a Rovers team appearing in the Munster championship by default, having lost the Tipperary decider against Thomas McDonagh's, who were deemed ineligible for provincial fare due to their divisional status.

A devastating goal blitz after half-time crushed the Rovers challenge, as UCC notched three in four minutes to gain a firm stranglehold on proceedings.

Rovers had recovered from falling 0-0 to 0-4 adrift in the first half to draw level by the 23rd minute but UCC rallied again to lead by 1-7 to 1-2 at the break.

Peter Acheson netted for Rovers after 21 minutes, finally finding the net for the Monroe outfit after UCC goalkeeper Sean Mellett deflected the ball onto the crossbar before Alan Campbell fired a shot against the upright.

But the floodgates opened in first-half stoppage time when O'Brien beat Rovers goalkeeper Ian Browne to Mike Griffin's long ball and fisted the ball home.

Rovers were then rocked by Geaney's first goal less than a minute after the restart as he took full advantage of Darragh Dwyer's error to find the net.

Geaney struck again in the 34th minute before he played in O'Brien for his second goal a minute later.

Gavin Ryan's goal in the 59th minute marked the only time in the game that a non-Kerry native registered a score for UCC, as the Tipperary man fisted home Jamie O'Sullivan's free.

Rovers could have few complaints at the final whistle against a UCC team that will now face Dr Crokes in the final on Sunday, December 4.

Crokes will once again call upon the services of Daithi Casey and Johnny Buckley, who have played key roles for UCC in their Sigerson Cup and Cork county title successes this year, as the pair put club before college.
