Both the Gardai and Offaly GAA chiefs are set to launch investigations into an alleged assault during the Division 1 Football League final between Ballycumber and Edenderry in Mucklagh last Saturday night.
Ballycumber won 1-17 to 0-12 after extra-time, but the game was marred when a Ballycumber official allegedly struck an Edenderry player towards the end of normal time.
Edenderry's Sean Doyle (17) was playing near the sideline when the incident is said to have occurred. The game was delayed for a number of minutes and he was substituted.
The Ballycumber official was sent off, with Offaly officials awaiting the referee's report before deciding on their next move.
