Freeman takes second chance as DIT stay strong to see off Carlow

DIT 1-14 Carlow IT 0-11 (After extra-time)

Alan Freeman hit the vital score from the spot as DIT edged out Carlow IT.

DIT led early on, with Harry Dawson, David Hughes and Gearoid McKiernan on target. But Carlow replied with scores from Conor Boyle and Gerry Seaver to lead at the break.

They then moved three ahead before McKiernan pointed each side of a Darrach Mulhall score to force extra-time.

DIT made the breakthrough when Eoin Reilly was fouled. Tom Hughes blocked Freeman's spot-kick but the Mayo star slotted home the rebound.
