Foley on fire for Leitrim as indiscipline costs Carlow
CARLOW had two players red carded for the second successive league game when going down to visitors Leitrim at Dr Cullen Park.
The dismissals of John Murphy and Sean Gannon in the second half stalled a plucky comeback by Luke Dempsey's men.
Carlow have now had two players sent off in four of their last five games -- against Leitrim, Clare and Wicklow in the league as well as the O'Byrne Shield final victory over Wexford.
This was a trap-to-line victory for Mickey Moran's men with left half-forward Michael Foley and full-forward James Glancy on fire up front.
The visitors led 1-11 to 1-5 at the break having played with the wind. But although Carlow did fight back they could not handle the loss of two players. Leitrim were reduced to 14 late on when right half-back James Glancy received a second yellow.
