Evergreen Rooney's hunger helps Louth turn over Fermanagh

Louth 2-11
Fermanagh 0-10

Veteran JP Rooney starred as Louth were worthy victors at Brewster Park, Enniskillen, yesterday with the Wee County the hungrier side from first whistle.

Rooney ran Fermanagh ragged to notch a goal and three points with a host of markers failing to keep tabs on the flame-haired poacher.

In the first half Rooney swooped on a defensive error to score the first goal and give his side a two-point cushion at the break.

Shane Lennon plundered Louth's a second goal in injury-time, while Fermanagh had Ciaran McElroy sent off after he got a second yellow card in the 55th minute.
