Elementary for Sherlock in Cork stroll
For the second year in a row Cork inflicted a heavy defeat on Limerick, but the margin was not nearly as big as 12 months ago.
Cork 2-15 Limerick 2-7
Cork burst out of the blocks with three unanswered points inside five minutes, but a goal by Mark Connolly had Limerick level, and Andrew White's free put them ahead.
It was a brief advantage, though, as Cork rattled off 1-5 without reply, the goal being from a penalty slotted low by Stephen Sherlock, who also contributed five points.
By half-time, the Rebels led by seven points, 2-9 to 2-2, with Connolly getting a second goal for the Treaty men.
Ten points separated the twice in a one-sided second half, but Limerick kept the visitors scoreless for the last nine minutes and scored the final two points.
