St Brendan's College of Killarney captured their 21st Corn Uí Mhuirí title at Mallow on Saturday and the result speaks for itself.
In truth it was never a contest, as the Kerry kingpins steamrolled their opponents. Ironically, Clonmel High School got the opening score when Mark Kehoe fetched the throw-in and was fouled. Michael O'Reilly converted the free.
St Brendan's response was immediate as Dara Moynihan fed Evan Cronin, who drilled the ball low into the Clonmel net. From the kick-out, Lee O'Donoghue found David Clifford, who in turn found Michael Casey, who completed a two-goal salvo in 90 seconds.
Chris O'Donoghue, Dan O'Brien and Niall Donohoe mopped up sporadic Clonmel raids at the back while up front St Brendan's had too much firepower.
Points flowed from the boot of Clifford and the towering David Shaw.
Clonmel were simply chasing shadows as Clifford finished to the net just before half-time and St Brendan's retired 3-10 to 0-6.
St Brendan's added six unanswered points inside the opening 10 minutes. Clonmel were simply outclassed. Late goals from William Courtney and Donnchadh O'Sullivan only emphasised the gulf in ability between the sides.
