dubs to hear gilroy call
DUBLIN County Board members will be told tonight about All-Ireland-winning manager Pat Gilroy's decision on his future, WRITES LIAM KELLY.
Gilroy and board officers are due to meet today, when Gilroy will convey his decision to the Management Committee and then board delegates.
All the indications are that the St Vincent's man will stay in charge for the Dubs' defence of their All-Ireland title in 2012.
However, county chairman Andy Kettle said yesterday: "There's still an 'i' to be dotted and a 't' to be crossed, but whether it's a yay or nay will go to county committee tomorrow night.
"It will be sorted out by then, and it's Pat and Pat only we're talking about, not backroom.
"If it's positive, he will be looking at his own backroom team. If it's negative, it's not something I'm looking forward to in November. Plan B is thin on the ground."
Barry Cahill commented: "Within the squad, players-wise and management-wise, everybody would be hopeful that everyone will be there next year.
"Mickey Whelan is not involved at the moment but that might change maybe in the New Year."
He added: "We had such a good year this year that I'm sure a lot of lads will look forward to next year to try build on this year's success."
