Douglas inspirational as Castlebar Mitchels march on
Castlebar Mitchels (Mayo) 1-10, Tourlestrane (Sligo) 0-5
NEIL Douglas scored 1-5, 1-4 of this in the first-half, as Castlebar Mitchels set up a Connacht Club SFC semi-final with Corofin after an efficient eight-point defeat of Tourlestrane in a dour and ill-tempered quarter-final at Markievicz Park.
Tourlestrane attempted to play an ultra-defensive game in the first-half but this ploy backfired badly when a superb Aidan Walsh pass set up the excellent Neil Douglas for a tidy 19th minute goal.
Castlebar, who led 1-6 to 0-1 at half-time, played against the breeze in the second period but didn't miss the injured Paddy Durcan and were still comfortable when top scorer Neil Douglas was black-carded after 40 minutes.
