Corner-forwards Lorcan Dolan and Martin Rock were on fire as Moate gave an exhibition of point-taking at Carlow IT.

The pair hit 0-9 between them, all from play, as Moate turned on the style in the second half against plucky St Peter's. In all, the winners recorded 0-13 from play.

Backed by the wind in the first half, Peter's led 1-6 to 0-6 at the break, with full-forward Jamie Carthy getting the goal.

A Carthy point within a minute of the restart extended that lead, but that was their final score as Moate went on to hit 10 unanswered points.

Midfielder David McCormack crowned a Man of the Match performance with a wonderful point from a free right on the sideline on 52 minutes to put his side 0-13 to 1-7 ahead.

Defenders Leo Colgan, James Ganly and Luke Kelly were also prominent.

St Peter's were out of luck as Donal Shanley and Simon Donoghue both hit the woodwork with shots at goal.
