There was never any chance of an upset at Ballyfoan on Saturday evening as John Maughan's NUIG claimed a third win on the trot.

A promising NUIG attack caused London plenty of problems in the opening period, with Mayo attacker Jason Doherty providing a reminder of his considerable ability.

Doherty contributed three delightful points as the students cruised into a commanding 0-9 to 0-2 interval lead.

London did improve after the break, narrowing the deficit to four as Mark Gottsche, Sean Kelly, and Eoin O'Neill all registered points from play.

Despite London's mini-revival, NUIG stayed cool, regaining the initiative with a 40th-minute goal as Ian Galvin rattled the net with an opportunistic finish following a sharp break.

London continued to battle, with substitute Paul McGoldrick rifling over three points, but NUIG weren't seriously troubled.

NUIG, who host the Sigerson Cup finals weekend next month, know that another victory over Sligo IT on Sunday will earn them a place in the home final.
