Clare announced their arrival to Division 3 with an emphatic win over Wexford at Hennessy Park yesterday.

The hosts dominated the game and were given a huge incentive to grab the two points when Wexford captain Ciaran Lyng was given a straight red card in the 39th minute for an off-the-ball incident involving Clare's Dean Ryan.

The Banner lead by 0-8 to 0-3 at the break, and with David Tubridy in fine form all day, they punished the visitors. The Doonbeg club man scored 10 points in total.

Wexford were guilty of squandering opportunities. On two occasions they could have had been in on goal, but a pair of brilliant saves by Clare 'keeper Joe Hayes kept them out.

Making his debut was former Dublin player Pat Burke. The Kilmacud Crokes man, in the colours of his father's native Clare, scored 1-2 from play.
