Clare’s summer plans have been thrown into disarray with the news that dual-star Podge Collins will be out for the “foreseeable future” with damage to his cruciate ligament.

The Cratloe flyer was forced off after just 15 minutes of his side’s loss to Balyea in the Clare Senior hurling Championship on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old had decided to throw in his lot with the Clare footballers this year who are managed by his father Colm but there was some hope that Collins could return to the hurling set up at some stage this season.

However Clare FM are now reporting the 2010 All Ireland winning medallist and All Star could be out for the rest of the season following the dreaded cruciate injury.

His father Colm will now have to plan without his son ahead of their crunch clash with Cork in the Munster semi-final on June 14.
