Mark Cronin and Damien Gore collected 3-9 between them as Cork romped to a 19-point victory in last night's quarter-final in Thurles.

Cathail O'Mahony, the third member of the Tipp full-forward line, added four points in front of 1,158 spectators.

Cronin, brother of Cork senior Stephen, led the way with 2-4 against a disappointing Tipperary side.

It was also a good night for captain Colm O'Callaghan, scorer of three points as five of Cork's six starting forwards got on the scoresheet.

Cork, who beat Tipp by just three points last year, could even afford the luxury of shooting 15 wides.

Playing against the breeze from the start, they were 1-9 to 0-4 ahead by half-time.

Cronin scored the first of his two goals in the 17th minute, Gore the provider, before the Nemo Rangers player struck again seven minutes after the break.

Gore netted seven minutes later and the writing was on the wall for Tipp.

There was a consolation goal for the hosts with nine minutes left when sub Adam McGrath lashed home a fine effort.

But Tipperary finished with the game with 14 players when, and with all six substitutes used, Shane Ryan was black-carded in stoppage-time.

Cork march on to the semi-finals, with Tipp into a play-off with Waterford or Clare.
