Cox rounds off Kerry fightback
Kerry 3-13 Wexford 2-9
Kerry summoned a spectacular comeback in an exciting All-Ireland JFC semi-final at Fraher Field.
Michael Dwyer's goal on 46 minutes appeared to be a fatal blow for the Kingdom as the Model men moved 2-8 to 0-9 ahead. Kerry boss Stephen Wallace rung the changes and the introduction of Brendan O'Sullivan and Thomas Hickey worked a treat.
The Munster champions wrestled control of midfield and routed their opponents by 3-4 to 0-1 for the rest of the game. O'Sullivan landed a point before Conor Cox palmed the ball to the net on 49 minutes. Cox produced a copycat finish seven minutes later before Killian Spillane raised a third green flag.
The score flattered the winners as David Power's Wexford enjoyed the majority of the first-half possession and led 1-6 to 0-7 at half-time. Paudie Barden lashed an unstoppable shot to the net on 16 minutes. Donal Shanley hit three frees and Niall Harney got two from play. Matty Forde was introduced for the second period and set up Dwyer's goal.
