Connolly recovers for Dubs' Mayo showdown

Dermot Connolly has been named in the Dublin team for tomorrow night's Division 1 NFL clash against Mayo in Croke Park after recovering from an ankle injury, WRITES COLM KEYS.

Connolly was stretchered off in Killarney after he sustained what looked like serious ankle ligament damage. It was initially thought that he would miss this match, but returns ahead of schedule.

Rory O'Carroll misses out because of Fitzgibbon Cup duty with UCD and his place goes to Darragh Nelson, who slots it at wing back, with Darren Daly reverting to the full-back line. Kevin O'Brien takes over from O'Carroll at 3.

Declan O'Mahony comes in at midfield for the suspended Michael Darragh Macauley, who was sent off against Kerry. Denis Bastick's two- match ban has been served.

Ciaran Kilkenny is expected to be named among the replacements who weren't finalised last night.

Dublin (NFL v Mayo) – S Cluxton; D Daly, K O'Brien, J Cooper; D Nelson, G Brennan, J McCaffrey; D O'Mahony, C O'Sullivan; P Flynn, T Brady, C Reddin; P Andrews, D Connolly, B Brogan.
