Two points deep into injury-time from Neil Collins and Cathal Cregg earned Roscommon a share of the spoils against a well-organised IT Sligo outfit in Kiltoom.

IT Sligo looked destined for victory when Mark McHugh and Evan Regan, from a terrific free, pushed Michael Moyles' side two points to the good in stoppage-time. But a frantic finish saw Collins and Cregg snatch a draw in the sixth minute of injury-time.

Referee Liam Devenney adopted a sensible approach to the new rules and issued one black card to IT Sligo's Stephen Coen late on.

Donie Shine posted three points inside the opening 18 minutes before Conor Devaney pounced for a goal to give the home side a 1-6 to 0-3 lead after 20 minutes.

But IT Sligo restored parity by the break as James Shaughnessy's delivery from the left was palmed to the net by Mayo U-21 star Regan in the 29th minute.

The sides were level six times during the second period. Ryan McHugh was central to IT Sligo's incisive play, tagging on two fine points from play. A point from his brother Mark and a free from Regan seemed to have handed IT Sligo the win, but Collins and Cregg rescued the Rossies late on.

Rossies boss John Evans was pleased, saying: "Overall, I was delighted with the standard of football -- good venue, good football, two good teams and the referee didn't do a bad job either."
