CCCC to probe tunnel clash

CORK full-back Michael Shields and Dublin corner-back Philip McMahon could find themselves in trouble with the GAA's disciplinary authorities after clashing in the tunnel on their way in for the half-time break in yesterday's Division 1 NFL final.

The pair squared up to each other as they headed towards their dressing-rooms and while the incident passed quite quickly, the Central Competitions Control Committee are likely to review TV footage to see if any action should be taken against the pair.

The game itself was played in an excellent spirit with only four bookings -- all Corkmen -- while the free count of 39 was below the average too as Cavan referee, Joe McQuillan kept play moving.
