CCCC rescind red cards

THREE referees have had their decisions to dismiss players overturned by the Central Competitions Control Committee.
It's an early-season setback for ref and comes after the players involved -- JJ Delaney (Kilkenny), Cormac McGuinness (Meath) and Danny O'Callaghan (Crossmaglen Rangers) -- took their cases to the CCCC.
Delaney was sent off on a second yellow card by James Owens (Wexford) in the NHL clash with Cork, but the CCCC found that the first card was not warranted. The same applied to McGuiness, sent off on a second yellow card by Rory Hickey (Clare) in the NFL tie with Sligo.
O'Callaghan challenged the decision of Waterford ref Maurice Condon to dismiss him on a straight red in the Crossmaglen-Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland SFC club semi-final last Sunday. He was reported for 'striking with the knee,' but CCCC found that the correct offence was 'to push an opponent with the hands,' which does not merit a sending-off.
