St Peter's came close to a surprise victory in the All-Ireland junior series but ultimately their run came to an end at Old Bedian's when they were beaten in extra-time by Leinster champions Castleknock.

The Dubs started the brightest and were 0-3 points up after 10 minutes, while Dessie O'Malley got St Peter's off the mark with a free. Within a minute, O'Malley calmly slotted a penalty to the net, putting the Lancashire side ahead by a point.

Rory Corcoran pointed a free from 21 yards while St Peter's and O'Malley then scored with another free. Ronan Gallagher then slotted over after picking up another breaking ball.

The teams went in two points adrift at the break, St Peter's with the edge.

Shane Boland was starting to dominate at midfield and scored two brilliant points from play. St Peter's began to boss things but Castleknock rallied to leave two points in it with three minutes left.

A Corcoran goal put the Dubs a point ahead, but an equaliser then forced extra-time. A Des Carlos goal gave Castleknock a three-point lead.

A controversial penalty decision then followed after Cian Spillane was adjudged to have been fouled. Rory Corcoran netted and there was to be no comeback for the brave St Peter's.
