Carlow have Murphy to thank for win
Carlow 1-10 Limerick 0-10
Carlow midfielder Brendan Murphy scored four points from open play in a man-of-the-match performance as Netwatch Cullen Park last night as Turlough O'Brien's side got their league campaign back on track following their shock home defeat to London.
Visitors Limerick led 0-7 to 0-5 following an uninspiring first half. But the game turned in Carlow's favour three minutes into the second half when their full-forward Paul Moran was fouled in the large square and John Murphy crashed a fierce shot to the net.
In front for the first time, Carlow pressed home their advantage with unanswered points from substitute Seán Gannin, Eoghan Ruth and Brendan Murphy to go four points clear.
Limerick, who had lost their previous league outings to Wexford and Westmeath, stayed in touch but were unable to fashion a goal. But Carlow were the better side overall and move on to three league points.
