BARRY CAHILL could return to the Dublin squad for the first time this season for Sunday's clash with Mayo after making a successful return to club action over the weekend.
The former All Star wing-back played for St Brigid's 'A' as they defeated the club's own second team as he continues his rehabilitation from an abductor muscle injury.
Meanwhile, Tyrone received a major boost last night when Sean Cavanagh returned to action for his club Moy. The 2008 Footballer of the Year played against Derry side Slaughtneil in the Ulster club league and got among the scores. He could well feature in the Tyrone squad for the National league derby with Monaghan this Sunday.
Cavanagh had surgery on his ankle prior to Christmas and his comeback couldn't have come at a better time with the Red Hands without a point
Ricky Nixon's hitlist of promising GAA players invited to an AFL trial today contains four Dublin senior footballers. Cian O'Sullivan, Paddy Andrews, Rory O'Carroll and James McCarthy are on Nixon's list for today's trial at Gormanston College.
Nixon has kept the final draft of the list top secret since arriving in Ireland last week, though it is known that 15 players had accepted invitations to the trial, plus two high-profile individuals who had rejected previous offers from AFL clubs but who Nixon suggested have had a change of heart.
