Busy start to new year

Two thirds of all inter-county games in hurling and football will be over by the end of April 2012 while three-quarters will be over by the end of May next year. The games below refer only to inter-county in senior, U-21, minor, intermediate and junior.
Ready or not, it's lift-off for the various provincial pre-season tournaments with football starting in the first week followed by hurling on January 22. Hurling doesn't need to launch as early due to the later start to the NHL.
The NFL starts on February 4, followed by the hurling on February 25. There are also junior and intermediate club finals, senior club semi-finals, Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cup and inter-provincial action, while the Leinster U-21 football starts. Games: 68
The busiest month of the year with NFL and NHL games dominating the senior agenda. There's also an inter-provincial final, Fitzgibbon Cup and All-Ireland senior club finals, provincial U-21 football championships and minor Leagues.
The concluding rounds of the Leagues, plus the quarter, semis and football final, as well as U-21, minor championships and minor League.
The end of the NHL and U-21 football championships, but it's straight into senior provincial championships, plus Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cups.
