Brian O'Driscoll and Tomás Ó Sé lead the touching tributes to Colm Cooper after retirement announcement
Irish sportspeople are queuing up to congratulate Colm Cooper on a fantastic Kerry career after the legendary forward announced his retirement from inter-county football today.
As first reported in this morning's Irish Independent, Cooper confirmed the news in a statement a short time ago, with social media immediately flooded with tributes to the four-time All-Ireland champion.
Most of the well-wishes came from GAA stars, but Brian O'Driscoll was one notable person from a different sport who wanted to praise Cooper after the news broke.
Here is a collection of some of the best tributes to the now former Kerry star.
What a footballer The Gooch has been. Unmarkable at his best. The greatest 'Two trick pony' you're ever likely to see... Been a pleasure pic.twitter.com/oqkIiV8ZhO— Brian O'Driscoll (@BrianODriscoll) April 4, 2017
Best wishes Gooch. The best ever. No one that I've seen could lace his boots. And I don't say that lightly. Enjoy retirement my man
Put Gooch in a phone box with a pack of wolves & he'd still hav the poise to hit 'em with a dummy solo & stroll out unscathed. The greatest.— Mike Quirke (@Mike_Quirke) April 4, 2017
It looks like the main man is leaving the scene. What a player. An absolute wizard and the coolest & classiest of them all. @colmcooper13
