Damien Brennan hit 1-6 as GMIT eased to victory in Drumcondra against a Pat's side making their debut at this level.

Brennan fired five first-half points as the visitors led by 0-6 to 0-4 at the break, with Shane Dempsey keeping the hosts in touch. GMIT, who only registered one wide in the opening half, held Dublin star Ciaran Kilkenny - the Pat's player-manager - scoreless.

The visitors kicked on with four unanswered points, with Andy Glennon, Joe Donnellan and Brennan on target before Brennan goaled in the 48th minute as GMIT proved too strong.
