It means that if Kildare win Leinster, they can't enter the All-Ireland stage.

Two Chris Fenner points, followed by Chris Healy and Adam Burke scores put Kildare in control until former senior star Paddy Gilsenan got Meath off the mark. The Royals took the lead with a Kevin Traynor goal but Kildare finished the half with a flourish and Daniel Grehan's goal helped them to a 1-10 to 1-6 interval lead.

Meath cut the gap to two, but the Lilywhites pulled clear, with Eoghan Boyle's goal sealing the result.
