GAA director general Paraic Duffy has acknowledged the influence of Professor Gearoid O Tuathaigh in the discussion document released on payments to managers.

Professor O Tuathaigh delivered a lecture to the NUIG alumni in 2009 to mark the 125th anniversary of the GAA, which Duffy attended.

On the night, he described the payments to managers as the most challenging issue facing the GAA and the need for the GAA to address it in a direct and transparent manner.

Former GAA president Nickey Brennan, GPA chief executive Dessie Farrell, Ulster Council official Stephen McGeehan and former Armagh footballer Jarlath Burns were among those who made written contributions.
