Donegal's All-Star Ryan McHugh struck a dramatic late goal to condemn his home county to defeat in an entertaining encounter in Ballybofey.

McHugh netted an injury-time winner for UUJ to sink the Donegal U-21s. McHugh palmed home from Frank Burns' ball across the danger zone to punish a moment of weakness in the Donegal defence.

Seven points by another Donegal man, Patrick McBrearty, also aided UUJ who are managed by Tír Chonaill legend Martin McHugh.

Daire Gallagher found the net for UUJ in the third minute, but a fortuitous goal from Eoghan Ban Gallagher had Donegal back on track. When Micheál Carroll palmed home after a fine move, the home team looked on course for victory.

Donegal led 2-8 to 1-9 at the break and saw subs Brendan McCole and Ethan O'Donnell strike gold, before McHugh bagged the clincher.
