Classy St Patrick's, Cavan lay down an early marker
St Patrick's 2-15 St Eunan's 0-7
St Patrick's Cavan sent out a warning to the rest of the field that they are serious Danske Bank MacRory Cup challengers this year after an emphatic victory over St Eunan's Letterkenny at Dunmoyle on Saturday afternoon.
The Donegal lads were always going to be up against it as they had four players suspended from their play-off win over St Pat's Armagh, but its doubtful if even their presence would have changed the end result.
The Cavan side took the game to their opponents from the off with points from Brian Sheanon, Thomas Edward Donohue and an eighth minute Thomas Galligan goal.
Niall O'Donnell opened St Eunan's account but St Pat's responded through Pierce Smith, Darragh Kennedy and Cian McManus.
St Eunan's had a brace of points from Caolan McDaid but Donohue surged through to finish in style to the roof of the net to help his side establish a match-winning 2-10 to 0-4 interval advantage.
McDaid and Donohue swapped points from frees in the opening minutes of the second half before Paul Leddy and Donohue increased St Pat's advantage.
McDaid replied for St Eunan's but Smith took his personal haul to five points with two well-taken scores.
