A campaign vying for a minute’s applause at Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Dublin and Kerry at Croke Park in tribute to ‘Batman’ Ben Farrell has already garnered over 10,000 likes on Twitter.

Ben Farrell, aged just 5, passed away a week ago today after a lengthy battle with kidney cancer.

Affectionately known as ‘Batman’ Ben, the youngster captured the heart of the nation as he battled for life.

Through a variety of fundraising endeavours, Ben’s family had raised enough money to bring him to America for treatment but he died at home last week and was laid to rest on Saturday.

Using the #5thMinForBatmanBen, those touched by his bravery are hoping to get a minute’s applause in the fifth minute as Dublin face Kerry in Sunday’s football semi-final.

Certainly a worthy endeavour.
