Clare's Marie McGrath is presented with the player of the match award by Annette Ni Dhathlaoi, Head of Marketing Liberty Insurance after Clare edged a titanic battle with Offaly by 1-10 to 1-8 in the Camogie Championship yesterday.

The visitors had the better of the opening period, with a goal from Fiona Lafferty giving them a 1-7 to 0-4 interval lead.

Offaly were extremely wasteful in that first half, shooting 11 wides but they were better after the resumption. A late Siobhán Flannery goal brought them to within touching distance of the Colm Honan's crew but it was Clare that held on for the vital win.

In the other senior game Derry beat Tipperary 2-12 to 1-9. Tipperary had more than enough chances to win the game but struggled to convert them to scores. That meant that despite a good start, that included points from Cáit Devane and Sarah Fryday, they were caught by a deflected goal from Gráinne McGoldrick, who finished with 1-3. Gráinne McNicholl's late goal proved decisive as Derry went on to record a notable win.
