Kilkenny earned some measure of revenge for their Liberty Insurance All-Ireland senior camogie final loss to Galway last year by overcoming the champions in this semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds.
Niamh McGrath pointed for Galway after just five minutes, but Denise Gaule had the Noresiders level and they were asking questions of Galway when Michelle Quilty pounced for a goal after 12 minutes.
Ann Dalton ventured forward to bag a second Kilkenny goal 10 minutes before the break and Aisling Dunphy added a point. However, Orlaith McGrath breathed life into Galway with a a goal to leave it 2-5 to 1-3 at half-time. It was substitute, Brenda Hanney, who had the biggest impact after coming in at half time - bagging a goal within five minutes of her introduction.
Shelly Farrell found the net for Kilkenny and while Hanney hit back with another goal for Galway, Gaule cancelled that out to put the issue beyond doubt.

Cork 1-9 Wexford 1-9
Una Leacy came off the bench to rescue Wexford with an injury-time goal at Semple Stadium and ensure a replay of their senior camogie semi-final against Cork this Saturday.
It looked like Katriona Mackey's goal midway through the first half would decide this tight affair, but Leacy made no mistake after fine work from Katrina Parrock to deny Cork.
Jenny O'Leary did have a chance to snatch it for the Leesiders late on from a difficult free tight to the sideline, but her effort drifted wide.
The six yellow cards issued by Alan Lagrue bore testament to the competitiveness of this encounter.
Ursula Jacob's point was the only score of the game when Mackey took a pass from Angela Walsh to beat Wexford goalkeeper Mags D'Arcy.
Points from Jacob and Kate Kelly, sandwiching a score from Cotter, left it 1-3 to 0-3 at the break.
Jenny O'Leary and Mackey gave Cork an advantage before Leacy made her dramatic intervention to ensure a second bite of the cherry for Wexford.
