WEXFORD kept themselves firmly in the promotion hunt with a remarkably easy win in Tullamore yesterday.
The paltry home support watched on in frustration as Offaly tried hard but clearly lacked self-belief.
The only positive for the home side was the return of star attacker Niall McNamee after his long lay-off and while he was unable to turn the game, he showed flashes of his talent.
Wexford stormed into a 0-8 to 0-1 lead after 27 minutes. They looked like they had the points in the bag when 0-10 to 0-3 in front at half-time.
Ken Casey gave Offaly a glimmer of hope with a quick goal but Wexford soon put the issue to bed. Offaly's day went from bad to worse when sub Kevin Lynam received a straight red.
Wexford were 0-16 to 1-3 ahead before sub Bernard Allen got a consolation goal, but the winners pulled away again with an injury-time goal from Shane Roche.
