Waters sinks Sligo
IT'S over two years since Wexford put back-to-back league victories together but they were always superior at Wexford Park yesterday.
Sligo only led once in this free-riddled game and that was after just two minutes when Martin Breheny pointed a free. Wexford then struck the front as Ciaran Lyng dispatched a penalty after Sligo's keeper Philip Greene was penalised for a foot-block.
Wexford, through the excellent play of midfielders Eric Bradley and Daithi Waters, maintained control into the breeze to lead 1-4 to 0-6 at the interval.
The hosts signalled their intent in the 53rd minute when Ciaran Lyng put Ben Brosnan through for a goal to give his side a 2-6 to 0-6 lead. Midfielder Daithi Waters also punched a 60th-minute goal. Alan Costello got the consolation for Sligo.
