David Tubridy scored seven points as Clare eased past 12-man Waterford at Cusack Park yesterday.
Leading by 0-9 to 0-6 at the break, they forged ahead in a second period in which referee Frank Flynn dismissed four players -- three from Waterford and one from Clare, all for second yellow cards.
Shane Ahearne saw red six minutes into the second half and when Rory Donnelly goaled for Clare in the 47th minute, Waterford's chances of a comeback all but evaporated.
Clare's Gordon Kelly was next to depart and Waterford duo Gary Hurney and Joey Veale followed late on.
