Students too smart for Louth
St Pat's, Drumcondra 2-14 Louth 0-10
NIALL Arthur and Tom Breen inspired St Pat's to a comfortable maiden victory over Louth in Darver.
The pair fired 2-10 between them to set up a quarter-final date with Wicklow next Sunday.
Breen's 19th-minute strike to the roof of James Connolly's net ensured Pat's went in at the break with a slender 1-6 to 0-8 lead.
Arthur grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck after the break, scoring 1-4 without reply including a low, driven, 20m free that squeezed through the massed ranks on Louth's line.
Louth's top-scorer, Diarmuid Murphy, was given his marching orders with the scores at 2-10 to 0-8.
