Roscommon rarely had to extend themselves to get the better of a poor Carlow outfit

Roscommon 2-13
Carlow 0-8

Roscommon rarely had to extend themselves to get the better of a poor Carlow outfit at Dr Hyde Park. The Connacht champions mixed the enterprising with the mediocre throughout.

They got off to a dream start when Michael Finneran goaled on four minutes. JJ Smith kept Carlow in touch, but Roscommon led by 1-8 to

0-4 at the break. Smith and Alan Kelly hit early points for Carlow, before Roscommon took over and Cathal Shine's goal sealed an easy win.
