Regan strike crucial
St Pat's, Navan 3-7
Knockbeg College 1-9
A GOAL in the last minute from substitute Dylan Regan sealed victory for defending champions St Patrick's at Dr Cullen Park yesterday.
Knockbeg started the game strongly, only to be hit by a quick-fire two-goal salvo.
Ciaran Fitzimons rounded off a flowing Navan move on 12 minutes and, two minutes later, Cathal Smith followed up to find the net after his penalty kick had struck an upright.
Navan led 2-5 to 0-4 at the break but Knockbeg rallied to cut the arrears to a point (2-5 to 1-7) with seven minutes left -- helped by another goal from a penalty rebound, when Robert Burlington saved Paul Kingston's kick only for the ball to come back to the full-forward, who crashed it home.
But then Regan struck decisively after fine work from man-of-the-match Alan Forde.
