Red Hands stay on upward curve
Tyrone 1-12 Laois 0-11
Tyrone picked up a third straight win to transform themselves from relegation candidates to promotion chasers at O'Moore Park last night.
Colm Cavanagh's first-half goal laid the foundations for an impressive Red Hand display.
Tyrone made light of the difficult conditions to play some sparkling football in the first half, with Brian McGuigan hitting three excellent points.
Laois had no answer to the movement of the Ulster men, and could only manage a couple of MJ Tierney frees in reply, while Tyrone pushed on with points from Kevin Hughes and Owen Mulligan to lead by 1-7 to 0-3 at the break.
Laois chipped away at the deficit with a string of Tierney frees and a couple of neat Ross Munnelly points, with Tyrone keeping their noses in front through frees from Martin Penrose and Sean Cavanagh.
The Red Hands kicked on towards the end with points from Penrose and substitute Mark Donnelly to put the game beyond doubt.
