Power leads Carlow romp
CARLOW U-21 footballers will have learned precious little from their 39-point thrashing of Kilkenny in this quarter-final mis-match at the IT grounds last night.
By half-time the Cats trailed 3-11 to 0-1 and the pain continued for the visitors in the second period as the Carlow scorefest continued, with 11 players sharing the scores, including all six starting forwards.
Kilkenny's lone second half score was a 41st-minute goal from a penalty by half-forward Andy Kavanagh. But there was an avalanche of scores from Carlow, who hit 5-8 in the half.
Carlow full-forward Robbie Power top-scored with 2-3, while Eddie Byrne bagged two goals and Killian McCabe helped himself to 1-3.
