Wicklow moved up to third in the table as a result of this comfortable win in Aughrim yesterday.
The foundation for the victory was laid in the first half as Wicklow turned in a sparkling display.
Goals by Dara O'Sullivan and Tony Hannon on 22 and 37 minutes gave the home team a decisive 2-7 to 0-4 lead at the break.
There was much to savour about the hosts' performance in the opening 35 minutes, Ciaran Hyland, Stephen Kelly and Dean Healy providing the leadership in defence, and Hannon, Seanie Furlong and O'Sullivan calling the tune in attack.
Leitrim came back into the game in the second half as Wicklow seemed to ease the foot off the pedal, with home manager Harry Murphy emptying his bench to give his support players a run-out with the result in little doubt,
Full-forward Paddy McGowan found the net for Leitrim on 50 minutes to narrow the gap to 2-9 to 1-5 but in truth it never looked on the cards that the westerners would overhaul the home side.
