O'Hanrahans on the brink

THE DEMISE of once-proud Carlow town club O'Hanrahans has been taken a step further by their decision to withdraw from the county's SFC.
Unable to field a side in a re-arranged SFL game with St Patrick's (Tullow) last week, the club has now decided to opt out of the Carlow championship.
Only a short few years ago, the Blues were the dominant force in Carlow club football and went on to win a Leinster Club title under current Kilkenny backroom mentor, Michael Dempsey.
The club have been struggling to field at senior level since the start of the league and once they failed to muster 15 for their latest league game, they decided to withdraw from the county championship.
One of Carlow's longest-serving senior footballers, Mark Carpenter, is an O'Hanrahans stalwart.
