O'Driscoll and Davis point way

By St Fachtna's 0-13, Col na Sceilge 0-9

Thursday November 24 2011

INSPIRED by the brilliance of Brian O'Driscoll and Kevin Davis, St Fachtna's, Skibbereen booked their place in the quarter-finals yesterday.

In this winner-take-all clash with Kerry's Colaiste na Sceilge at Rathbeg, midfielder and Cork minor O'Driscoll and forward Davis scored 0-5 each.

Trailing 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time, St Fachtna's fell a further two points behind at the start of the second half, but the Cork school then took over, outscoring their opponents 0-8 to 0-1 over the rest of the game.

Two O'Driscoll points on the spin were followed by three in a row from Davis as St Fachtna's moved 0-10 to 0-8 clear before a Denis Daly free for na Sceilge left just one point in it with seven minutes to go.

But St Fachtna's didn't panic, as O'Driscoll picked off two more fine efforts either side of a Mark Moriarty score.
