KERRY came good after half-time against Tipperary at Semple Stadium yesterday to book a place in the semi-finals against defending champions Cork on June 6.

Kerry led by 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time and surged into a real comfort zone with five unanswered points after the restart. Leading forwards Michael O'Donoghue and Aodan MacGearailt, a former senior panellist, were very much to the fore as the visitors upped the ante.

Tipperary didn't open their second-half account until the 44th minute and after half-time, the hosts were outscored by 0-8 to 0-3.

In the first half, Tipp acquitted themselves well as they went in search of a first Munster JFC victory since 2003, but Kerry were much more economical with their use of the ball.

And the winners hit the game's only goal in the seventh minute when O'Donoghue moved onto Michael Murphy's pass to find the net.

Tipp were denied at the other end in the 19th minute when Stephen Hahessy saw his effort well saved by 'keeper Sean Og O Ciardubhain.

Kerry were denied a second goal six minutes from time when MacGearailt's penalty was brilliantly turned over the bar by Tipp goalkeeper Kieran Kenrick.
