COLM O Croinin was the Colaiste Eoin hero as the all-Irish Stillorgan college edged out Castlecomer CS in the quarter-final at Carlow on Saturday.

It took extra-time to separate these very evenly matched sides and it was O Croinin's extra-time goal which proved decisive. In all, the No 10 scored 2-1 and got through a mountain of work, while left full-forward Oisin O Ruairc was an able ally with six points.

Castlecomer put up a very stern challenge and had they greater forward support for team captain and full-forward Charles O'Dwyer, would surely have reached the semi-finals.

O'Dwyer, a Laois minor for the past three years, hit 0-9 of his side's total.
